Planning for tomorrow. Preparing today.
Here at PRYSMS, we are driven by a single goal; to prepare students of color for college! We provide forums and workshops with an intentional focus on College Readiness, College Access, and College Retention for families of color. We deliver programming that is consistent with our vision to support and assist parents in empowering their children with knowledge, understanding, and confidence to reach their full potential and prepare them for College.
Programs
"PRYSMS Aces"
PRYSMS Aces is a program designed to prepare students to have full access to college by providing support through the College Application process. Every Spring, we select deserving 11th-grade students intending to pursue a course of study at either a two-year or four-year educational institution.
"Walk in my Shoes"
Workshops are held throughout the year led by High School students, College Students, and recent College Graduates who engage in an interactive dialogue sharing their "walk" to success! Our facilitators have attended prestigious institutions such as Princeton University, NYU, Vanderbilt University, Spelman College and the University of Southern California. Some are employed by School Districts, Hospitals, Law Firms, and Financial Institutions.
We are always looking for volunteers to share their "walk" to success with our students!
Our Story
Established in 2014 by Dr. Tyra M. Banks, PRYSMS is an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Our organization emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Dealing with the educational challenges facing students of color today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks.
